The city’s definitive and best-loved gay nightclub for many years, these days cc blooms concentrates its late-night clubbing operation to lab, the basement dancefloor space. that means the light-filled, high-ceilinged ground floor level can be put to another use. open all day and evening, it pitches itself as a non-exclusive café, a relaxed and spacious place to grab a bar meal, and a drinking bar for later in the evening. the menu is varied and filled with favourites, including burgers served in a brioche bun with a large gherkin, potato wedges or curly fries. there are also sharing plates, all-day breakfasts, salads and pub classics plus menus for children and pre-theatre diners too (after all, the playhouse is only a couple of doors away). the cocktails and coffees are pretty good too.
