As an independent west coast publisher, chronicle books sees things differently. the company publishes around 300 books and stationery products each year in areas such as art and design, pop culture, food and drink, lifestyle, and children's titles. books include new york times best-sellers griffin & sabine, the beatles anthology, the worst case scenario series, plenty, darth vader and son, grumpy cat, press here, goodnight goodnight construction site, and more. the company also has three retail stores in san francisco (including its corporate headquarters) that sell books and gift items. founded in 1967 to provide the san francisco chronicle with a book publishing division, chronicle books was acquired in 2000 by longtime editor-in-chief nion mcevoy who became its chairman and ceo with jack jensen serving as the company's president. today, chronicle books is part of the mcevoy group along with becker&mayer, galison publishing, i see me!, and princeton architectural press.
