Think of schools in the caribbean and you'll likely conjure up images of tropical fish frolicking in large clumps amongst the reefs. however, those at the us virgin islands department of education probably picture students studying in large clumps amongst the textbooks. the territory's education department administers, supports, and facilitates the teaching and learning process throughout the islands' public school system. it oversees the st. thomas-st.john school district and its nearly 20 elementary, junior, and high schools, as well as the st. croix school district and its nearly 20 schools. the department also administers the territory's no child left behind (nclb) program.
